GENERAL

WHAT IS FAIRYLOOT?

FairyLoot is a monthly book subscription box that focuses on Young Adult fantasy literature. In every single one of our monthly boxes, you will receive a brand new Young Adult fantasy novel, 5-6 exclusive bookish goodies related to the theme of the box and other items sourced directly from the author.

HOW DO THE SUBSCRIPTIONS WORK?

We offer 3 different subscription plans:

Alternatively we also offer the option to place a single purchase order for our monthly box - this is a one-off purchase and will not automatically renew.

SHOULD I SUBSCRIBE OR BUY A SINGLE PURCHASE?

Every month we have a limited amount of boxes and they often sell out quickly. If you are subscribed, it means your spot is secured every month and you don't need to worry about missing out. If you want to skip a month, you will need to cancel your subscription, and if you want to resubscribe you will need to start a new subscription.

If you purchase single purchases, you can pick and choose which themes you are interested in and don't have payments automatically renewing. This does mean that if the boxes sell out you may miss a chance to grab one.

IF I'M SUBSCRIBED, CAN I SKIP A MONTH?

No. Our subscription plans do not allow you to skip a month. But you can cancel your plan anytime and whenever our store is open for new subscriptions, you can re-subscribe. You can do this under through your account page.

If you only want to purchase boxes based on the theme, we suggest you order "single purchases" instead of a subscription plan - that way you can pick and choose.

WHEN CAN I SIGN UP?

Whenever we open our store for new subscription spots or single purchases we will make announcements through our website, newsletter and social media (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook). Please note that we have a limited number of boxes each month so we recommend ordering sooner rather than later! Once we sell out it is not possible for us to restock.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 'THEME'?

Each month, a theme for the upcoming box will be introfduced to give you a hint as to what the book will be about or related to. The items in the box will correlate with the theme.

WHAT AGES IS FAIRYLOOT SUITABLE FOR?

Our boxes feature Young Adult and mature Young Adult books, so most of our titles are suitable for ages 14 up - but you're never to old to enjoy FairyLoot!

INSIDE THE BOX

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THE BOX?

Each box will have one recently published Young Adult book, 5-6 exclusive goodies and special items from the author (e.g. posters, bookmarks, a signed bookplate...). We also include a unique hashtag that links you up with one other person receiving a box for a fun buddy reading experience. Our boxes are lovingly packed and sprinkled with fairy dust every time.

WHAT KIND OF BOOK WILL IT BE?

FairyLoot focuses exclusively on fantasy and the book will always be a hardcover copy. It will follow the theme of the month and it will be either be a first book in a series or a standalone story (we don't choose any books that are sequels). We spend a lot of time selecting our books in advance to make sure they are the very best of the best.

WHAT IF I ALREADY OWN THE BOOK?

We only send books that have been published within the last 5 weeks of the dispatch date, so it will be quite unlikely you will already have it. Unfortunately, if you do happen to have the book, we do not offer refunds at this time.

WHAT HAVE THE PREVIOUS BOXES INCLUDED?

Our box always includes a hardcover book, and the items that accompany it have been toy figurines, candles, soaps, bookmarks, notebooks, socks, jewellery, scarfs - anything, really! We like to mix it up every month. You can check out what our previous boxes have included here.

HOW ARE THE BOOKS AND GOODIES CHOSEN?

All of the books and goodies are hand selected by Anissa (a book blogger at She Reads Too Much) who founded FairyLoot. She will make sure that the book will keep you up all night and that all the goodies will match the theme of the book perfectly, giving you a unique experience.

WHAT IS FAIRYLOOT'S #BUDDYREADINGHASHTAG ABOUT?

Every single box that FairyLoot ships out to its worldwide customers contains a little card with a unique hashtag, which allows you to find a like-minded reading buddy. Find out more about the buddy reading hashtag here.

CAN I BUY A SINGLE ITEM FROM THE BOX?

No. Most items are exclusively produced for the respective box and are not sold anywhere else. However, we usually include the website names of our suppliers and special discount codes so that you can browse their online stores and shop at better rates.

 

PRICING, BILLING & PAYMENTS

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A FAIRYLOOT BOX?

The price for a FairyLoot box is GBP £26 (+shipping)

  • The price of a 3 Month Subscription is GBP £78 (+shipping)
  • The price of a 6 Month Subscription is GBP £156 (+shipping)

The shipping cost depends on the country you are ordering your FairyLoot box to. Find out more about our shipping prices here.

All of our prices are in British Pound Sterling (GBP). Please make sure you check how much that is in your own currency. If you are ordering your box to a member country of the European Economic Area (EEA), VAT will also be charged.

WHEN WILL AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS BE DEDUCTED?

Payments for automatic subscription plans are always deducted on the 1st day of the month. If you subscribe to a 3 Month Prepaid Subsciption plan, payments will be made quarterly - always on the 1st day of the month. If you subscribe to a 6 Month Prepaid Subscription plan, payments will be made twice a year - always on the 1st day of the month.

Please make sure you have the balance available on the 1st of each month! If the payment doesn't go through you risk losing your spot.

CAN I CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?

You can cancel your subscription anytime. Please log into your account and click on the "cancel" button next to your active subscription in the subscriptions tab. The subscription status "Pending Cancellation" means that your subscription will NOT renew again - it will be fully cancelled on its next renewal day.

CAN I PURCHASE A BOX WITHOUT AUTOMATIC RENEWAL?

Absolutely! Simply select the single purchase option - this is a one-off purchase of the current FairyLoot box.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS CAN I USE?

In our online store we accept all major credit and debit cards for both subscriptions and single purchases. We also accept PayPal for single purchases - but not for subscriptions.

CAN I PAY USING PAYPAL?

Yes ...and no. We only accept PayPal for single purchases - subscription plans can only be used with debit or credit cards.

By using this plan, you will always be automatically billed on the 1st day of every 3rd month in order to receive all of our monthly book boxes. The monthly subscription can be cancelled anytime.

WHAT IS THE 6 MONTH PREPAID SUBSCRIPTION PLAN?

Our 6 Month Prepaid Subscription Plan is a subscription to our monthly boxes using a recurring billing plan that renews every 6th month. By using this plan, you will always be automatically billed on the 1st day of every 6th month in order to receive all of our monthly book boxes. The monthly subscription can be cancelled anytime.

WHAT IS A SINGLE PURCHASE?

Our Single Purchase option allows you to place a one-off order of one of our monthly boxes. Whenever our monthly box is available in our store, you can add a single purchase order into your cart and checkout using your debit/credit card or PayPal.

SHIPPING

DOES FAIRYLOOT SHIP TO MY COUNTRY?

YES! We want to spread our fairy magic around the world and therefore ship to any country in the world. You can find out more about our shipping in our Shipping Guidelines.

HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?

The shipping fee is calculated upon checkout and varies by location. You can find out more about shipping prices in our Shipping Guidelines.

WHEN ARE THE BOXES SHIPPED?

Our monthly boxes are shipped around the 20th day of the respective month.

CAN I HAVE MY BOX SHIPPED TO A P.O. BOX?

Yes, of course! However, please note that we cannot send our boxes to P.O. boxes on a tracked service. This also means that your box will likely be slightly slower to reach you, if you are using a P.O. box address.

IS THE SHIPPING TRACKED?

We offer a tracked service to most countries, but we offer an untracked service to a couple of countries. When you are checking out, you will be presented with shipping options based on your location.

We can't send our boxes on a tracked service to PO box addresses, so if you use a PO box address we will send the box to you on an untracked service.

WILL I HAVE TO PAY CUSTOMS CHARGES?

If you are ordering your FairyLoot box to a country outside of the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area (EEA), it is possible that you may be subject to paying customs fees - although this is NOT likely. The only country that we are currently aware of charging customs fees is Canada. This is because Canada's customs threshold of $20 (CAD) is one of the lowest in world. In comparison, the custom thresholds of $800 (USD) for the USA and $300 (USD) for Mexico are much higher and therefore in those countries (and most other countries in the world) you should never be asked to pay customs fees when expecting a FairyLoot box.

WHAT IS STANDARD (UNTRACKED) SHIPPING?

With Standard (Untracked) Shipping, you will not receive a tracking number and it is usually slower. We only offer the untracked shipping option to a few countries - find out what options you have in our Shipping Guidelines.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH TRACKED SHIPPING?

For most countries we only offer tracked shipping - however, for some countries we give you the option to either tracked or standard (untracked) shipping, but we always recommend tracked shipping! You can find the prices and options in our Shipping Guidelines.

Please note that we cannot send boxes to a PO address on a tracked service, so it's better if you put a home/work address.

On a tracked service, you will receive an email with a tracking number and if anything happens to your box you will be fully covered and your box is insured. Usually on a tracked service boxes take 1-3 weeks to reach you, but unfortunately if they get delayed through customs it can take up to 3-4 weeks, which is something out of our control.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH UNTRACKED SHIPPING?

On our standard (untracked) shipping service, your box will be untracked so you will NOT receive a tracking number. We offer tracked shipping for most locations, and we always recommend tracked shipping over untracked shipping! You can find the prices and options in our Shipping Guidelines.

On a standard untracked service, you can expect your box to arrive between 2-5 weeks. The parcel will be handed over to your local post, which are then in charge of delivering it.

WHEN WILL MY BOX ARRIVE?

The shipping duration depends on where the box is being shipped to - within the UK it should be around 2 or 3 days from shipping. If you are outside of the UK, it can take 1-4 weeks.

 

ADDRESS CHANGES

I AM SUBSCRIBED, CAN I CHANGE MY DELIVERY ADDRESS?

You can change your address in your Account Page. Please make sure that your shipping address is always up to date! If you have moved or made any changes to your address, you will need to update this in the address tab on your Account Page. Subscriptions always renew on the 1st day of the month and once your subscription has renewed, you won't be able to change the address for that month's order. If you don't change your address before the renewal date it will renew using your old address. When you update your address, please make sure you tick the box that says "Update the shipping used for all of my shipping subscriptions" as shown in the image below:

Change Your Deliver Address

If you do not have an account, please use our order support form to check, whether a manual address change is still possible. As soon as your label gets send to our warehouse, it will be impossible to change the address - so please make sure that you inform us about your address change as early as possible!

I HAVE A PREPAID SUBSCRIPTION, CAN I CHANGE MY ADDRESS?

You cannot change your shipping address through your account for 3 month or 6 month subscriptions, but our team can change it for you! This is because your address will only change when your subscription renews, so during those months it will not update. We can easily change it for you if you get in touch with our order support.

Please note that we can change the address for any order, as long as the label has not been sent to our warehouse (we usually sent off all labels in the beginning of the month in which the boxes are being shipped).

I HAVE A SINGLE PURCHASE, CAN I CHANGE MY ADDRESS?

You cannot change your shipping address through your account for single purchases, but our team can change it for you! We can easily change it for you if you get in touch with our order support.

Please note that we can change the address for any order, as long as the label has not been sent to our warehouse (we usually sent off all labels in the beginning of the month in which the boxes are being shipped).

If you only update your address in your account, it will not carry through to your single purchase order!

I AM MOVING COUNTRY, WILL MY SHIPPING FEES CHANGE?

Most likely they will - you can check our shipping rates in our shipping guidelines. If you have a subscription and move to a different country, we recommend that you cancel your active subscription and start a new subscription with your new address!

RETURNS AND SUPPORT

CAN I RETURN OR EXCHANGE THE BOX I RECEIVED?

No, once a box has shipped, we cannot accept a return and won't be able to exchange it for another box.

ONE OF THE ITEMS IN MY BOX WAS MISSING, WHAT DO I DO?

Usually all of our parcels are monitored by weight before being shipped, to ensure that no items are missing. In the unusual case that an item is actually not present in your box, please use our order support form to get in touch with us as soon as possible!

ONE OF THE ITEMS IN MY BOX ARRIVED DAMAGED, WHAT DO I DO?

Please use our order support form to get in touch with us as soon as possible! If one of your itmes is damaged, you will need to file a claim including photos of the damaged item. We will then be able to send out a replacement item to you.

CAN I GET A REFUND WHEN I CANCEL MY PAID ORDER?

No, unfortunately not. Once you paid for your order we cannot issue a refund for it.
